  1. There are some programs that will take long-form videos and break them up into short-form videos – which is a good way to get more people who won’t find or watch a person’s 10-20 minute videos but will take a minute to listen to one of the points a person is trying to make – and then they might subscribe and watch the longer videos. That’s something I need to do.

  2. It is so true; short-form videos have taken over. I am still trying to unlock the key as I start my social media marketing journey, but it seems like dancing, animals, and good music are part of the recipe! I look forward to learning more about these videos and how to create captivating content that goes viral!

    1. You tube isn’t so hot on the shorts. You tube is an educational platform. People go there to learn. 15 minutes or longer is preferable. Then you cut them into shorts and send to TikTok, IG, FB etc.Ive chosen You Tube as my chosen social media strategy. I am doing my research!

  3. I have always had mor luck with the short form video in terms of views, but I do wonder if they are enough to keep a cutomer engaged for the long term. So are they evergreen enough. Maybe we use them to gather followers, and keep them coming back with more content rich pieces.

  4. Hi Jon, Yes I so agree with you and I just began my video experience. I do believe it can foster the community feel. I wish you would check out my new YouTube channel. ( Go to YouTube and search SuccessSavvyVlog) I am attempting to start with the “faceless” style channel. ….. Maybe Maybe not.
Keep up your good work my friend. We will pursue success together.

  5. Jon, this is an interesting topic. Totally agree with what you said. However, what I’m finding now in recent weeks is that TikTok wants to compete with YouTube. In order to do that, they are encouraging people to post longer videos and there’s an incentive for if your video is one minute or longer the way you’re paid for your content changes. There’s also a threat of America banning TikTok which is probably more down to election results so being online with your own own asset and content is even more important than before. Thanks, Atif

  6. Hey Jon, Great post. I am diving into video and haven’t quite figured out my angle or platform. The short video submissions, I believe, have their business place, but I am leaning more towards YouTube because of their longevity and proven marketing strategies. I recently watched Sophie talk about her video views, and I enjoyed and appreciated her honesty about why she likes the more extended video platforms better. She believes the short videos provide exposure, but in the long run, providing good content in a way that educates a person in a longer format will keep them coming back. I think all formats are essential.

  7. Jon,

We certainly have come a long ways over the last few decades. There is a song that say,”Video killed the radio star” and now social media videos are killing off the TV stars. People are venturing onto YouTube and other platforms to consume content and be a part of the different communities. Now extended play content is being pushed aside for short clip videos. I wonder with the evolution on A.I. what will be next. Perhaps virtual reality worlds.
However, no matter how things evolve they stay the same. People want to belong. Regardless of the platform or method used like minded individuals are going to flock to communities and organizations where they feel a sense of belonging.

Currently that is in social media groups fueled with long and short videos.

    Have a great day!
